Jefferson County Position Description
Smoke Management Coordinator
$3000 per Month
|This is a temporary position usually July through November each year.|
|The Smoke Management Coordinator works closely with the Jefferson County Rural Fire Protection District and with the local farmers. Orientation will be provided by Jefferson County Smoke Management Committee.|
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
|§ Planning and maintaining budget of Jefferson County Smoke Management Program.|
§ Updating and issuing media bulletins, web page, and other program information.
§ Annual registration of growers/farmers into the program.
§ Collection of registration fees.
§ Determining daily burning status.
§ Observation and reporting of burning progress.
§ Logging burns and reporting them to JCRFD#1.
§ Coordinating traffic control during burning when necessary.
§ Reporting and logging violations.
§ Reporting and logging complaints.
§ Preparing season ending statistical and narrative summary.
§ Preparing accounts payable.
§ Attendance within the program boundary is essential during the program season.
§ Performing other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the program.
- Knowledge and Skills
|Knowledge of farm practices and have basic understanding of the importance of field burning to the agricultural community. Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.|
|Communicate in a clear and concise manner. Understand and convey the instructions and regulations of the Jefferson County Smoke Management Program to all interested parties of the program. Obtain respectable customer service when fielding calls, concerns and feedback from farmers and citizens of the public.|
- Physical Abilities
|Ability to be outdoors in extreme conditions, such as heat and wind. Ability to walk on uneven or rough surfaces.|
- Education and Experience
|Experience in agricultural practices and customer service. Technology and computer skills. .|
- Licenses and Certificates
|A valid Oregon Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. Reference this is a mobile position, therefore needs reliable transportation in the field.|
- Working Conditions
|Work is performed indoors and outdoors where some safety considerations exist from physical labor and handling of light-to-medium weight, yet, awkward materials.|
